The first cannabis reform bill was filed in the new congress and Illinois has now identified 31.5 million dollars for social equity applicants in that state.
That first bill in congress only addresses the re-scheduling of cannabis from a schedule 1 drug to schedule 3. The Illinois fund will provide financial assistant to those who need legal aid, youth development, community reentry and financial support.
The California Cannabis Industry Association has discovered credit unions as a banking alternative. Sure enough the North Bay credit union is opening it’s doors to members of the CCIA. That industry generates more than 10 percent of total cannabis sales in the United States. To the tune of 5.2 billion dollars, and employs close to 40 thousand people, all who are now welcome to enjoy banking privileges at that credit union.

In the Maine report, there is a South Portland dispensary called sea weed co. That is getting the kind of attention it never wanted from their logo. Regulators in that state are contemplating whether that logo conflicts with advertising regulations that explicit state that no logo can look like a “cartoon” that might appeal to someone under the age of 21.
